The blind UK-based artist Clarke Reynolds wants to give visually impaired people access to one of the most defining images of this century—the picture of President Trump with blood on his face and his arm aloft in front of a US flag, taken immediately after an assassination attempt in July last year.
Reynolds has turned this searing scene into an image made of Braille dots, which also spells out the conversation the president had with his Secret Service agents following the attempted shooting. The Braille picture shows Trump shouting “fight, fight, fight!”, along with the agents’ cries of “up”, “move” and “go, go, go!” Trump also exclaimed, “Let me get my shoes,” which had been knocked off in the ensuing scuffle. Reynolds hopes his unusual take on the dramatic event in Butler, Pennsylvania, will attract one of Trump’s most famous fanboys. “Who knows who will buy it—Elon Musk? In the art world, you do need a bit of luck,” the artist told the BBC.
