Hunter Biden, the son of the former US president Joe Biden, has said sales of his art have plummeted since his father left office. In a recent court case, he said he has managed to sell just one piece of art since December 2023, according to the New York Post. “In the two to three years prior to December 2023, I sold 27 pieces of art at an average price of $54,481.48, but since then I have only sold one [work] for $36,000,” said Biden through his lawyer.
In an interview with The New York Times in 2020, the self-taught artist described creating his work with a brush or by blowing alcohol ink onto Japanese Yupo paper with a metal straw. His later works are more abstract.
Hunter has had a run of fairly bad luck lately—a number of his works in storage were destroyed in the recent Los Angeles wildfires, according to the New York Post. Facing sentencing for two criminal cases, he was nonetheless pardoned by his dad late last year, avoiding jail.
