Visitors to the rugged Welsh coastline on the isle of Anglesey probably had to look twice on seeing arch Surrealist Salvador Dalí climbing the rocks recently (the artist died in 1989, aged 84). Fear not however—the maverick showman has been brought to life by actor Ben Kingsley who has taken on the role of the outlandish artist in a new film, Dalí Land. “Sporting the twirled moustache and shoulder length hair favoured by the eccentric Spanish artist, Sir Ben, 77, was ready for action as filming got underway on the windy coast in Wales,” reports the Daily Mail. Model Suki Waterhouse is also due to make an appearance in the arty new biopic which tells the story of a gallery assistant, played by Ezra Miller, who helps Dalí prepare for a major show in 1970s New York. The naïve assistant “falls down a rabbit hole of glittering parties, personal battles, and an art world awash with money and drama”, says Deadline magazine (can’t wait). A release date is yet to be announced.
