The feted UK fashion designer Jonathan Anderson puts craft back on the agenda with the second iteration of the Loewe Craft Prize. Anderson, the creative director of Loewe—the Spanish luxury brand—is behind the annual prize which is all about “the importance of craft in today’s culture, [recognising] working artisans”. the Scottish ceramicist Jennifer Lee for her work Pale, Shadowed Speckled Traces, Fading Elipse, Bronze Specks, Tilted Shelf (2017). Lee received the award from the actress Helen Mirren at a ceremony held at the Design Museum in London; the victorious recipient also receives €50,000 prize money. Anderson says, meanwhile, that “Jennifer Lee for me is a landmark in form.” Each of the shortlisted works are due to go on display in a special exhibition at the Design Museum (4 May-17 June).
