Saudi artists climb aboard for US tour

The Culturunners bus tour continues to wind its way around the US, bringing Middle Eastern artists to America’s heartlands (the 34ft Gulf Stream recreational vehicle has so far covered more than 13,000 miles, travelling through 27 states, as part of an initiative led by the artist Stephen Stapleton). And Saudi Arabia will play a key part in the next stage, which is backed by the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture. Officials at the new arts complex, which is due to open in the eastern city of Dhahran later this year, will send young Saudi artists on a four-city tour, taking in Houston and Los Angeles. Khalid Al-Yahya, programmes director for the museum, describes the scheme as a “people-to-people initiative, with young Saudi creatives sharing their stories across the US”.
