The leading Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco is sounding off, saying that a world-class museum must be built in Mexico to rival the Tate in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Speaking recently to the Mexican newspaper Excelsior, Orozco says: “We could do more—there is not a museum of the calibre of the Tate or MoMA in Mexico. Mexican contemporary art is among the best in the world; we now need a museum that can house these works.”
