We don’t often blow our own trumpet, but we’re delighted to have noticed a number of artists using The Art Newspaper as a found object in their works. The US-based writer Greg Allen was so taken with our daily editions at Art Basel in 2014 that he turned one of the pages into a digital print (edition of 25; $100 each), and earlier this year, the street artist Mark Alequin was spotted on the streets of Manhattan putting his own distinctive “tag” on our dailies. But the cherry on our cake is this piece by the leading artist Christo, entitled Wrapped The Art Newspaper (2015; edition of 15). The work is available through Carolina Nitsch gallery in New York, which regularly publishes editions for notable institutions; proceeds from Christo’s piece, priced at around $25,000, will go to the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. It really is the perfect present—and it’s already wrapped.
