Piero della Francesca through the eyes of his followers
by | 13 February 16
Few of his early paintings survive, most of them are too fragile to travel, and the chronology of his career remains uncertain.
Among more than 150 works in Piero della Francesca: Exploring a Legend at the Musei di San Domenico in Forli (13 February-26 June), just three are by Piero himself.
The show traces his influence through the work of others, from northern Italian peers such as Domenico Veneziano and Giovanni Bellini to modern artists who rediscovered him centuries later, including Georges Seurat, Giorgio Morandi and Balthus.
