Do you want to walk, and work, on water? Christo is looking for around 500 people to help him with 3km of shimmering yellow walkways that will link two islands in Lake Iseo to the Italian mainland for the first time. The artist’s nylon paths, known as the Floating Piers, will branch out to Monte Isola—Italy’s largest lake island—and will circle the smaller San Paolo islet before continuing into the mainland town of Sulzano to complete their 4.5km route. “For the final stage of the project, many non-skilled workers will be necessary to complete the Floating Piers,” the artist’s website says (Christo does not take on volunteers). Apply to work on the pathways, which will be in place for just 16 days this summer (18 June-3 July), at thefloatingpiers.com.
