Houston Center for Photography seeks interns


As an intern at HCP you will gain experience working in a small, established non
- profit organization and exhibition/educational space. See exactly what it takes to mount exhibitions and get a first
- hand look at how a non
- profit is managed on a daily basis.

As an intern you will have any or all of the following responsibilities:
- Assist with general exhibition planning and execution, including preparing for installation and de
- installation of exhibitions
- Assist with the organization and upkeep of our photography library and with educational programming
- Help prepare and archive exhibition materials
- Prepare mailings to our membership and assist with preparations for openings, fundraisers, and our annual auction
- Monitor the gallery during open hours, assist patrons, maintain gallery upkeep
- Run errands for office supplies, opening reception necessities, installation supplies, and distribute our promotional materials

As an HCP intern you will be an integral part of the team that puts on important exhibitions, hosts educational workshops, publishes SPOT magazine, organizes 2 major fundraisers and 4 educational calendars every year.

Qualifications:
- Have strong verbal communication skills, and pleasant telephone manner
- Be energetic, outgoing, enthusiastic to learn
- Have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi
- task
- Be a fast learner, team player, responsible
- Require minimal supervision
- Have a familiarity with Windows operating system (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Have a valid driver?s license
- Must have previous work experience
- Visual arts/photography background, knowledge of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat are a plus

Salary and schedule: This is an unpaid internship. Requires a commitment to a weekly schedule to be arranged at the beginning of the internship. Regular workdays are Monday ? Friday, with optional evenings and weekends for events and fundraisers. Minimum commitment: 8 hours per week.
