The Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA), Los Angeles, has confirmed that its director, Jeffrey Deitch, is stepping down. In a statement the institution said that an executive search committee has been formed to find his successor, led by the co-chairmen of its board of trustees, Maria Bell and David Johnson, along with Joel Wachs, a former trustee and the president of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Deitch's achievements leading MoCA since 2010, in particular its exhibitions and around 500 acquisitions were praised in the museum's statement. The announcement yesterday came after days of speculation in the media that Deitch's departure from the institution was expected.
