copenhagen. Marabou sculpture park in the Stockholm suburb of Sundbyberg is creating a new 500 sq. m underground exhibition hall, due to be completed in 2010. “We will show more international artists and establish a residence programme to increase cooperation with external curators and strengthen ties to artists,” curator Helena Selder told The Art Newspaper. Initially, there will be places for four artists or curators in residence. As well as the exhibition hall, there will also be a restaurant and a teaching space. Income from the restaurant will help to refinance the €6m investment needed for the construction of the building. In addition, space will be rented out for conferences. Marabou is organised as a foundation and receives support from the municipality of Sundbyberg. The sculpture park, designed by landscape architect Sven Hermelin, was built on the premises of a former chocolate factory.
