The fair organisers Tim Etchells and Sandy Angus are launching a new satellite fair to coincide with next year’s Art Basel Hong Kong. It will be held in a custom-built tent opposite the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, by the ferry pier, and is tentatively dubbed Art Central. Some 100 dealers are expected to exhibit at the event, which will take place from 12-16 March 2015.
Etchells and Angus originally founded ArtHK, which was bought in 2012 by the Swiss fair organisers that run Art Basel and rebranded as Art Basel in Hong Kong last year. The fair has changed its dates for next year to avoid a clash with other international art events in the spring including the Venice Biennale, and will take place 15-17 March 2015.
